Bathroom: Sink

After visiting all three Lowe's in town and not being able to agree on anything, we decided to try Home Depot. The selection there was even less; however, since we were at Home Depot, I decided to look at cooktops. Of course, they didn't have what I was looking for either. But, as I rounded a back aisle, I saw a few customer order sinks and grabbed Tony and the kids. We found one we all loved finally. The problem was the surface was not user friendly. The salesman even refused to sell it because it stains so badly. We ended up ordering a square sink from The Onyx Collection in Cameo and White. It should be here in another week and a half. I can't wait to see it! It's been very hard to wait patiently this long.

The last coat of crimson is on the wall. One more orange wall to go.

School

Eight more classes left after the spring semester is over. I enrolled for summer and fall yesterday. I'm taking Cost Accounting II in the summer and Auditing I and Business Statistics in the fall.

It looks like I might be able to graduate in December 2010 instead of sometime in 2011! Of course, I'll have to go back and take 6 more accounting hours to get my 30 hours in. I'm good on the 150 reqs. :)

Bathroom

Our friend came over yesterday to look at our sink/cabinet space. We made a general layout. We get to go shopping for a countertop and sink this weekend and will design the cabinets around it.
How exciting!! This is finally starting to come together.

Bathroom update

Yes, it's been a while since I've updated this blog again. We've made a lot of progress with the bathroom; although, it doesn't seem like it. There's so much prep work and that seems to take a lot of time. Plus we needed to set time aside to take the boat out.

Here's what's happened:

The crimson red above the shower is finished.

The wallapper is all gone. Yay!!! I can't tell you how glad I am we're rid of it. That was the awfullest thing ever.

The mirror has been removed. That was kinda humerous. Tony and I have been trying to work in this small space. He was mudding and I was painting. Then the hammer came out and I left. The hammer taps and small pieces breaking off were easy to get used to... then all of sudden there was a huge crash in the bathroom. I jumped off the couch. Stef jumped up from her nap. I ran back to make sure Tony was okay (no one was hurt but I had images of Tim Taylor) and found about a third of the glass had fallen on to the concrete floor. It shattered into many tiny pieces.

Next, we removed the light fixture. More holes were patched, mudded, and sanded.

Around the same time as the mudding, we broke out the OSU orange paint. Stef decided the wall was her canvas and created her masterpiece. It's captured in photos but has been painted and repainted over now.

Last weekend, we removed the sink and cabinet which left us with this hole in the floor to fill, one of those unforeseen additional jobs we seem to get into with these projects. Lowe's doesn't seem to mind.

And, here's two adjoining walls. The crimson side needs one more coat of paint. Of course, Isaac loved the crimson wall and thinks the orange is sickening. Stef says the orange paint has been her absolute all-time favorite home improvement project and can't stand the red. All I have to say is where is my blue and gold??? I will sneak it in somewhere. I will. and I'm sure they'll get rid of it as soon as it's discovered. :p

The 9-Point

This is Tony's buck from last hunting season. It's at the taxidermy shop right now. He'll get it in May or June.

Bathroom Remodel - Day 2

We're two days into the bathroom remodel. We're only working on this room on the weekends. Tony took out the extended counter and frame.

Then there was more glue and wallpaper backing to remove.

Tony has to move the wire box for the light fixture above the sink. And we need to figure out how to get that huge mirror out of there. After that, the room will be ready for tape and mud - next weekend's job.

Hopefully, we can start painting this weekend also or at least get the walls primered. I can't wait to see how this room will look with crimson and orange paint.

Bathroom Remodel Day 1

Well, we started redoing the kids' bathroom today. Tony took out the stool and flooring while I removed the switch/outlet covers and toothbrush and cup holders. Here's a few "before" shots of the bathroom.

One day into this project and, already, we had to make a trip to Lowes for adhesive remover. Hopefully we can finish scraping the adhesive off the floor tomorrow and start stripping wallpaper next weekend.
This is pretty similar to how the master bathroom (and here) looked before we redid it.

Hi!

Hi again. Yes, it's been a very long time since I've posted anything. I started a new job last May that I love. I'm still taking classes. This semester it's Principles of Marketing and Intermediate Accounting II. I'm getting closer to completing this degree! I'll have to look again but last count, I think I had around 10 classes left.

On the knitting front, I haven't touched a knitting project probably since around the time of my last entry here. I've crocheted a blanket for our living room though and started a cross-stitch of the Mona Lisa. That will take a while but it's going fairly quickly.

We have major remodeling plans ahead for our house. I have the camera batteries charged and will try to get regular updates. The major project is the kitchen. We're going to be gutting it out and redoing the whole thing. We have a general plan. It involved moving one wall back a couple of feet and opening up another wall. Our carpenter friend came over and we're not dealing with any support walls. He's probably more excited about this project than we are. But before we start working on the kitchen and dining room, we're redoing the kids' bathroom. We'll begin that this weekend. Tony and I decided to let them pick out the decor. They chose an OU-OSU bedlam theme. Isaac is an OU fan and Stef is an OSU fan. Can you picture red and orange walls in a small hallway bathroom? This should be fun!!!

The kids got a WII for Christmas. Here's a picture of Tony and I boxing. It took a while for me to figure out how to box. I won this match by the way.

At long last...

Wow, it's already the end of April!

The semester is finally almost over. I have a group project due tonight, an interactive class project due next week, and one more final to take. This has been a tough semester but I'm so glad I had good professors. I haven't enrolled for the fall semester yet. I haven't decided if I want to take Intermediate Accounting II or Statistics. Intermediate II would save me on book costs since they are using the same text as Intermediate I. Despite all that, I am taking this summer off. I really need the break! :o)

Most of my craft work has been on hold, the same with this blog. My priority is a crocheted baby blanket. I had it all finished until Tony and I noticed the whole last section was wider than the rest of the blanket! It's been frogged back to where I made the mistake. I thought I was actually getting this project finished with plenty of time to spare. It may be another last minute item.

Dare I say it??? I haven't touched a pair of knitting needles since January! I blame it on school. But since school is just about over, I'll have to see if I can sneak away to Knit Night again. I still can't go back to Ceili Dancing. My schedule on that night won't work for several more years to come.

I also started scrapbooking... Yeah, just what I needed... another hobby... But, it's sooo much fun! I have several pages of our vacation scrapbook finished. I have 400 photos to incorporate. Oh, that 40% off coupon from Hobby Lobby is going to come in handy! I'd also love to start making jewelry sometime.

I think that pretty much catches everything up since my last update. I'll leave you with a few more pictures from our trip last December:

Sunrise over Cocoa Beach, Florida, taken through our hotel room window.

In Epcot... Green grass & shorts in December!!! I would love to live in Florida during the winter!

The water ball fountains... I have no idea what it's proper name is but this entertained us for quite a long time. The fountain shoots up "water balls" that everyone was trying to fling at each other.

Christmas lights at MGM... It was gorgeous!

Not sure if you can see it or not, but there is real man-made snow falling from the top of this building. It's the light specs close to the edge of the roof.
